Road base gravel

shpigford. 14 years ago. I've heard differing opinions on what to use as a base layer for flagstone. My local quarry is suggestion a 3/4" roadbase while landscapers I've talked to have suggestion pea gravel or just crushed gravel. I'm planning on doing 3" of the base layer, then 2 inches of concrete sand on top of that and then the flagstone.
