I would not consider the 45/70 a practical hunting rifle for Africa it's just an odd caliber for longer shots, and looses power quickly beyond 100 yards. I would much prefer a simple bolt rifle in the 416 caliber.That is nearly 400 fps more from a sixgun barrel than a standard .45-70 from a rifle barrel.
